Winnie the poohi
Heroes are nothing but victims of circumstances doing the best there is coz there is no other choice.. We tend to aggrandasize heroes so as to avoid the responsibility of being responsible for our actions.. Its easy to say 'We all cannot be heroes' but why not?

    Hey winnie,
I also believe that there are heroes who are heroes not because of circumstances but because of choice........

  2. Not all heroes are victims of circumstances! The real heroes are those make courageous choices.

  3. OG: Umm I don't think so.. I wonder if Bhagat singh would have felt that rush of blood if he was born now and not during the independence.. I guess all that aggression in a way would have come out wrongly.. prolly as a goon..

    don't you think?

IHM: Courageous choices yes.. but its the circumstances that bring them to the crossroads.. I wud say they r just too responsible to avoid the right way..

Thought provoking one Winnie...and also who are heroes really?

    these lines come to mind

"In our world of big names, curiously, our true heroes tend to be anonymous. In this life of illusion and quasi-illusion, the person of solid virtues who can be admired for something more substantial than his well-knownness often proves to be the unsung hero: the teacher, the nurse, the mother, the honest cop, the hard worker at lonely, underpaid, unglamorous, unpublicized jobs."

so you and I or anyone could be a hero really..its just a matter of how we look at it...

heroes dont always slay dragons...somtimes they just simple are..

  5. Abhi that quote is like so apt and so true!!

You should read Hero's walk by Anitha Desai..

Expresses what you said in the last line :)

Yes they dont really need to slay dragons.. ppl who slay dragons generally are fatalist n escapsit.. they cant live in the normal framework of society.. real heroes are one who r extremely normal.. they keep the world going :)

we are all heroes. it's part of our humanity.

the only thing that differs from person to person is when and how they exhibit their heroism :)

  7. Reflections Says:

    Again wonderful thought!!!!!

  8. I think you are right. Heroes are the people who react in a different way to the same situations thrown at them, than the normal people. But the situations need to be thrown at them - and it helps.

  9. Tall Guy Says:

I agree. They need to as they could then be role models for others to follow but not at the cost of ignoring their responsibility.

We all are heroes in our way but seldom do we accept it!!

  10. Archy Says:

How can you think like this? :P :P Too deep a thinker or rather lets say, too deep an analyst and anew, that's a compliment ka!:-)

  11. Nancy thank you :)

Destination Infinity, Finally someone agreed to me :D :D

Yogesh, love the last line.. We all are heroes.. we fail to see it :)

I saw this documentary called as no more tears my sister.. and in that film the protogonist states.. in war men leave to fight and its the women that keep hope up and home lights burning.. these women are more brave than the men .. coz its hard to grasp the straws and live normally at abnormal times..

Archy thats reall sweet of you hon and I totally don't deserve it!

I am simply influenced by things I read and see.. if I didnt would I still think the same way ?
